Upgrade 4soft POS Version

Checklist before the process

  • uncheckedDone subscription license, LTS or Rolling.
  • uncheckedAll stations turn on.
  • uncheckedClosed the batch and day. 
  • uncheckedA server station has enough disk space for the upgrade process, at least 5Gb
  • uncheckedRenew the license for all stations, including the RDP station
  • uncheckedRestart the printer server

Window 7 - Require TLS1.2 to be installed for 4Soft version 4.2.0 or below

Require Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 to be installed for 4Soft version 4.2.0 or below

Require asp net core-runtime-6.0.16-win86.exe, windows desktop-runtime-6.0.16-win-x86.exe for 4Soft version 4.2.0 or above


If the new version that you want to update is 4.2.0.xxx. You have to contact customer service for a subscription EDC license before updating the version update process begins.


Suggestion to start updating on the DB station first, and turn off all client stations.

DB Station

Before Upgrade Version

  • Check that manage credit card transactions button is empty and does not have any list in the page.



  • Check that the 4softPOS has been closed day and the Batch is already

  • Close the Batch on all credit card terminals


  • Go database 

    • Backup Database at wSupport

    • DB Backup (Please create the new folder)



  • Check the PAX IP Address stations (Must be the correct IP for the same connection with the POS station)


Update process


  • Install the 4softPOS new version (Please consult with tier 2 which version to update)






  • Run as admin with dbUpgrade

    • Backup database again


  • Run as admin with Activate 



  •  Get updated info from the cloud license


After upgrading the version


  • Check if the printer server is still running 

    •  If not, go reset the printer server

  • Open 4softPOS

    • Check the version of POS is updated

  • Fill the PAX IP according to the POS station.

  • Test the connection of the credit card terminal

After Upgrade 

Client Station

Update process



  • Install the 4softsetup




  • Run as admin with Activate 

  • Get updated info from the cloud license



Checking how many POS stations are at the restaurant. Updating the POS version will succeed when the DB and client stations are the same version.
